Problems That Can Come From Ignoring Routine HVAC Maintenance And Minor Repairs

When it comes to your HVAC system, you want to have a good understanding of why you need to take care of the routine maintenance tasks that you know you should be doing. Once you are aware of exactly why they are so important, then you will know why you don't want to forget them on accident. Here are some of the things that can happen if you don't tend to those regular tasks:

Forgetting to put in a clean filter

If you don't replace a dirty filter with a clean one, then your HVAC system will have to work harder to pull air in through the reserve because the dirt on the filter will obstruct the flow of air as the unit struggles to pull it in. Also, some of the debris on the filter can eventually make its way through the system. The debris won't be good for the unit and it also won't be good for the air quality in your house when the debris gets blown back out of the vents.

Ignoring a leaky duct

If you start to notice it's hard to regulate the temperature in your house or that you are hearing a whistling sound that you suspect is a leaky duct in the system, then you don't want to put off having this issue looked into and repaired. If you don't act quickly, then the leak you have in the duct will likely get larger and larger as time goes on. The larger it gets, the more the system will need to work to achieve the temperature that you are trying to get for the home.

Forgetting to clean around the condenser

If you don't make it outside to clean up the area around the condenser, then the area can become overgrown with weeds and foliage. This can cause twigs, leaves, and other weed and plant particles to blow inside the housing. This can lead to some of that debris ending up getting intertwined with the fan and belts in a way that leads to repair problems that need to be taken care of. Also, if the condenser is on a part of the house that the wind blows toward, trash may even collect in that area and if something gets blown against the vent then it can cause the motor to become overheated and this is something that can cause major issues with the system.
